Jaguar unveiled two new additions to its R performance range at the New York Auto Show: the XJR and the XKR-S GT.
DECISIVE POWER, DEFINITIVE LUXURY: THE NEW XJR
The new XJR delivers supercar performance, assertive looks and supreme levels of luxury. This is the most focused, agile and responsive XJR ever, with a bespoke chassis, aerodynamic developments and a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine delivering an impressive 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. It rushes you from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, to a top speed of 174 mph.3 To call the driving experience thrilling is an understatement. It’s unashamedly luxurious too, with an interior that’s as breathtaking as its performance.
XJR is packed with technology to make the driving experience even more memorable. Calibrated Electronic Active Differential and Dynamic Stability Control systems offer enhanced handling.4 Its dynamic, muscular stance is enhanced by new 20-inch Farallon forged alloy wheels with bespoke low-profile tires for maximum grip. With the unique R exterior styling—including sports exhaust quad pipes, hood louvers, a revised front bumper featuring a splitter, unique side sills and a rear spoiler—it looks like it means business. Inside, you’ll enjoy beautiful soft grain leather Sport seats with the embossed “R” logo, available in a range of sporting colors.
“This XJR is a premium luxury supercar that also has an extremely purposeful look to it. This car will surprise, there’s no doubt about it,” says Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar.
THE ULTIMATE ON THE ROAD OR TRACK:
Developed by Jaguar’s Engineered To Order (ETO) division, the XKR-S GT is the ultimate road-going yet track-ready version of the XK coupe, a celebration of 25 years of R models.
Featuring bespoke aerodynamic components and suspension developments to increase downforce and optimize high-speed cornering ability, it will hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.3 The car develops up to 320 lb of downforce, and it’s the first production Jaguar to be fitted with carbon ceramic brakes.
"The XKR-S GT is the most extreme iteration of the Jaguar R Brand's performance focus,” says Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director. “Utilizing race-car derived technology, all-aluminum construction and an uncompromised approach to aerodynamic efficiency, the result is a car as capable on the track as it is exhilarating on the road."
Jaguar will only be producing 30 XKR-S GT models for North America—25 for the US and 5 for Canada—making this one of the rarest R models in the 25-year history of its R performance cars.
