ELEGANCE REDEFINED

The Jaguar XJ redefines the principles of automotive luxury. Sleek, sporting and sophisticated, this is a large premium luxury car with styling like no other. Streamlined and elegant, bold and dramatic, the Jaguar XJ is a spacious four-door sedan with the soul of a sports coupe.

PANORAMIC ROOF

All XJ models feature a dramatic full-width glass roof, extending from the top of the windshield to the front of the rear seating area. Unlike conventional moonroofs, however, it has a front section that slides upward and outward so it does not impinge on headroom. A dark tint and reflective glass coating help insulate the passenger cabin from the sun’s heat, and twin, power sunblinds can be closed for extra privacy.

HEADLIGHTS AND SIGNATURE LIGHTING

Bi-function HID xenon headlights operate automatically to provide powerful illumination when light levels fall. In a striking design feature, the base of each front headlight cluster includes a strip of bright-white LED Signature Lights. Headlight power washers are mounted flush with the front bumper so they will not disrupt the elegant lines of the XJ.

LED TAILLIGHTS

The dramatic taillights of the XJ flow along the car’s rear fenders before sweeping downward toward the rear bumper. Each lamp unit contains 57 individual LEDs that react to brake application more quickly than conventional bulbs. Three blades of light in each lamp create a unique nighttime signature reminiscent of the claw marks of a cat.

ADAPTIVE LIGHTING

Adaptive Front Lighting is standard on XJ & XJL Supercharged, XJ & XJL Supersport and XJL Ultimate models. The system’s sensors react to the car’s speed and steering, directing the headlights to cast light deeper into corners. It also provides extra LED corner illumination when maneuvering at low speeds. Intelligent High Beam, included with this feature, automatically switches between high- and low-beams to adjust to oncoming or preceding traffic.²

POWER VENTS

Bright-chrome side power vents are set into each front fender – true pieces of automotive jewelry. Each features a sculpted, chromed badge that carries the Jaguar name, and identifies the trim level on Supercharged, Supersport and Ultimate.

XJR DISTINCTIONS

Coming in the fall of 2013, the new 2014 Jaguar XJR represents the pinnacle of XJ performance. Its muscular body and seductive form will turn heads and drops jaws. Its low, ground-hugging stance and deep, resounding sports exhaust dramatically announce its arrival. To visually differentiate this model the XJR features an enhanced body shape, including hood louvers to accommodate the cooling demands of its powerful engine and quad exhaust pipes. Its aerodynamics are sharpened with a purposeful front bumper a black front grille with chrome surround, chrome plated lower air intake finisher, unique side sills, and a rear spoiler. Finishing touches include 20-inch Farallon alloy wheels, red brake calipers and, of course, quintessential R badging.
The car comes in both standard and long wheelbase versions.

PRECISE PARKING

Ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers are designed to detect objects and give the driver both an audible warning and a visual alert on the Touch-screen. When Reverse is selected, the Touch-screen displays digital video images from a rear-facing camera, providing steering guidance lines to help you maneuver.¹

ADJUSTABLE POWER TRUNK LID

The power-operated trunk lid can be opened with a single press on the remote key, or by using a button either inside the car or on the rear bumper. To close the trunk, there is another button inside the lid. For low garage ceilings or simply for ease of use, the opening height of the trunk lid can be easily adjusted.

A SELECTION OF ALLOY WHEELS

A variety of 19-inch and 20-inch alloy wheels is available in stunning designs unique to the XJ. Wider wheels are fitted at the rear of the car, optimizing grip and enhancing the car’s sporting, athletic stance.

Up front, there are 12/12-way power heated seats. Heated rear seats are also standard. However, 18/18 or 20/20-way power front seats are available, depending on model, while front and rear active ventilated seats can also be selected.

XJR INTERIOR

Coming in the fall of 2013, the new 2014 XJR boasts a cabin that is undeniably sporty, yet unashamedly luxurious. Its hand-stitched soft grain leather is offered in five bold colorways with surfaces finished in striking Piano Black. The exclusive R logo appears on the steering wheel, instrument cluster, dashboard Intaglio and is embossed in all four seats. All seats feature active ventilated heating and cooling. The front performance seats have 18/18-way movement allowing exact body contouring and exceptional holding during cornering. And yet, you can still stretch out in the back, with up to 44 inches of legroom in the long wheelbase version. The panoramic, heat-reflective glass roof extends the full width of the car and sweeps to the back, flooding XJR with light.

PHOSPHOR BLUE HALO

At night, the interior of the XJ is illuminated in Phosphor Blue halo lighting, highlighting the center console and door panels.

INTEGRATED CONTROLS

Switches mounted on the steering wheel control the entertainment system and cruise control, and engage Interactive Voice™, which accesses the latest voice recognition system for many functions, such as direction entry, phone calling or radio tuning. The system is fully integrated with the Virtual Instruments, which display driver input and selections.² For extra comfort on cold mornings, the XJ also features a heated steering-wheel rim.

VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS

Start up the XJ and its Virtual Instruments come to life. The instrument cluster is composed of a full-color Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display. In place of conventional gauges, TFT offers high-contrast and sharp-resolution graphics, communicating vital information at a glance.

DUAL-ZONE OR FOUR-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL

The XJ climate control system is fully automatic, with air particle and odor filtration, auto-recirculation, humidity control and automatic window demisting. The dual-zone system, standard on the XJ, incorporates individual temperature controls for both driver and front passenger. A four-zone system, optional on XJ and standard on all other models extends individual control to both left and right rear-seat passengers.

ELEGANT TIME

Providing a classical contrast to the high technology of the Virtual Instruments and Touch-screen, an elegant analog clock graces the center of the instrument panel.

INTAGLIO "INGOT"

The intaglio is a crafted “ingot” that sits centrally in the wraparound veneer at the base of the windshield, bearing either the Jaguar insignia or a personalized inscription (please see your Jaguar Retailer for more information on personalizing the intaglio). The XJL Ultimate, XJ Supersport and XJL Portfolio with rear seat comfort pack feature unique intaglio designs.

JAGUARSENSE™

JaguarSense™ is an electronic control system providing touch operation for opening the glove compartment and operating the front overhead console lights – especially useful in the dark.

REAR BUSINESS TRAYS

The XJL Portfolio with rear seat comfort pack, the XJL Supercharged and XJL Supersport all feature rear business trays finished in handcrafted wood veneer set into the backs of the front seats. (If Carbon Fiber interior veneer is chosen, the tray tables are finished in Piano Black.)

WELCOMING TREADPLATES

Brushed stainless steel treadplates complement the luxurious interior of the XJ. On the XJ/XJL Supersport and models with the Illumination Pack, the Jaguar script in each treadplate is illuminated in Phosphor Blue.

ADVANCED POWERTRAIN TECHNOLOGIES

Designed entirely in-house, the Jaguar 5.0-liter V8 and 3.0-liter V6 showcase advanced technologies that optimize power and efficiency while reducing exhaust emissions. On supercharged models, a sixth-generation Eaton® twin-vortex supercharger delivers a considerable power boost with optimized air intakes and rotor geometry designed for improved efficiency with reduced noise and vibration.

ALL-NEW SUPERCHARGED JAGUAR V6

Drawing on key technologies used in the Jaguar V8, the new 3.0-liter supercharged Jaguar V6 offers eight-cylinder-like performance but with enhanced efficiency. This all-new V6 uses a high 10.5:1 compression ratio – something unheard of in supercharged engines just a few years ago. Such a highly efficient compression ratio is made possible by direct fuel injection, variable camshaft timing, electronically managed boost control and an air-to-water intercooler to reduce the temperature of the incoming compressed air. The engine also features counter-rotating front and rear balancer weights for smoothness and refinement befitting a Jaguar car.

In the XJ, the 3.0-liter supercharged Jaguar V6 produces 340 horsepower and an equally impressive 332 pound-feet of torque, delivering virtually instant response. In fact, the torque peak extends from 3,500 rpm all the way to 5,000 rpm. Coupled to a wide-ratio eight-speed automatic transmission, and with standard Intelligent Stop-Start, the supercharged Jaguar V6 delivers spirited acceleration as well as surprising efficiency.

JAGUAR INSTINCTIVE ALL WHEEL DRIVE™

The Jaguar XJ Instinctive All Wheel Drive (AWD) system¹ employs an active power transfer control technology that adds the benefits of enhanced traction while retaining the sporty agility and steering feel of the rear-wheel drive version. Jaguar Instinctive AWD is an intelligent, continuously variable drivetrain with a built-in rear-wheel bias to ensure an authentic Jaguar driving experience. The heart of the system is an electronic control unit that uses a variety of sensors to determine how much power to send to the front and rear wheels. Driver selection of Normal, Winter or Dynamic modes also affects how the system operates. Instinctive AWD is available exclusively with the 3.0-liter Supercharged Jaguar V6.

On the move, the intelligent system continuously monitors driving and road conditions to help enhance traction and handling balance. The front-to-rear torque split can vary from most of the torque on the rear wheels to as much as 50 percent on the front wheels. What’s more, the AWD system can even take action pre-emptively to help ensure the best possible grip in many road and weather conditions.²

WINTER MODE COMES STANDARD

The JaguarDrive Control™ system on every XJ model features Winter Mode, a sophisticated setting that helps maintain traction on snowy, wet roads. When activated, Winter Mode transforms the way the XJ responds: The engine, transmission and Dynamic Stability Control work together to help avoid slipping and skidding while maximizing power delivery in adverse weather conditions. When activated on models with Instinctive All-Wheel Drive, Winter Mode changes the default torque split to 30/70 front/rear.¹

XJR PERFORMANCE

Coming in the fall of 2013, the new 2014 XJR is propelled by an awe-inspiring 550 hp 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine, tuned and calibrated to deliver a top speed up to 174mph³. This is a luxury sedan that accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.³ To enhance handling, an array of assistive systems harnesses that incredible power without overwhelming the driver or compromising the smoothness of the ride. The suspension is fine-tuned to improve body control, balance and composure whether on the highway or a hairpin turn. The Active Differential Control helps limit the slip between the rear wheels providing outstanding traction and cornering agility. Revised steering hydraulics and calibration enhance steering response and road feedback while Adaptive Dynamics monitor the suspension, varying damping up to 500 times a second to increase stability and agility.

JAGUAR SEQUENTIAL SHIFT™

The ZF® eight-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission provides smooth yet quick gear changes, and uses adaptive shift technologies to vary transmission operation for economy or performance, depending upon your driving style. For greater driver involvement, paddle shifters positioned behind the steering wheel offer manual gear-selection control. The wide range of ratios available from eight forward speeds offers enhanced efficiency as well as smoother performance.

JAGUARDRIVE SELECTOR™ AND JAGUARDRIVE CONTROL™

The transmission is controlled by the beautifully designed JaguarDrive Selector™, which rises into your hand once the “Start/Stop” button is pressed. Simply rotate the selector to move from Park to Reverse or Drive. JaguarDrive Control™ offers specific settings for the drivetrain: Dynamic Mode, which modifies the engine torque delivery and transmission shift points for a more engaging driving experience while illuminating the Virtual Instruments in red, or Winter Mode, appropriately indicated with instruments in ice blue, to provide more progressive throttle control in slippery conditions.¹

NO-COMPROMISE DYNAMICS

Unlike conventional passive shock absorbers, which must be tuned to compromise between soft damping for ride comfort and firm damping for responsive handling, Adaptive Dynamics varies suspension damping to suit driving conditions. This standard XJ system continuously adjusts the shock absorber at each wheel for improved chassis control with maximum ride comfort. In addition, a self-leveling rear air suspension is standard on all models.

OPTIONAL SPORT & SPEED PACK

Available exclusively on the 2013 Jaguar XJ/XJL Supercharged and Supersport models, the XJ/XJL Supercharged Sport & Speed Pack and the XJ/XJL Supersport Speed Pack are designed to further enhance the sporty nature of these Jaguar luxury sedans. The packages’ visual content includes 20-inch Venom alloy wheels, a front splitter and rear-deck spoiler plus other performance-oriented features.

CONTROLLING TRACTION

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), which helps enhance traction in a curve or during straight-line acceleration, has two settings. The default setting helps modulate loss of traction as soon as it is detected. The Trac setting, on the other hand, allows a higher degree of wheelspin for sportier driving. In addition, DSC can be completely turned off for special conditions.

MAXIMIZING GRIP

The electronic Active Differential on supercharged V8 models is engineered to maximize the available grip at each rear wheel. It detects any slippage, and apportions the power supplied to each wheel to optimize rear-wheel traction for the conditions.

AEROSPACE TECHNIQUES

The XJ bodyshell is constructed of aluminum and magnesium alloys using techniques derived from the aerospace industry. Components are riveted, epoxy-bonded and bolted together to form a strong monocoque structure that combines lightness with exceptional rigidity. Less weight means less mass to accelerate, providing outstanding performance and efficiency as well as reduced emissions. This strong but light construction is also integral to the car’s outstanding safety engineering.

ADVANCED AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS

In addition to driver and passenger front airbag Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), the XJ has side airbags (SRS) in the outer edges of the front seats, and side curtain airbags (SRS) to help protect occupants in both the front and rear outboard positions. Sensors detect the size and weight of the driver and front passenger to vary front airbag deployment. At the same time, the front seatbelts feature “soft landing” technology, which softens the contact with the airbag and pre-tensions the seatbelts to help reduce slack. In addition, Active Head Restraints on the front seats are designed to move forward in the event of an impact to help lessen whiplash-type injuries.

PRECISELY CONTROLLED BRAKING

All XJ models have anti-lock brakes, which vary the brake pressure to individual wheels in order to help prevent the wheels from locking under hard braking. If the car senses a sudden brake application, additional brake force is produced by the Emergency Brake Assist, potentially resulting in shorter stopping distances. Advanced Emergency Brake Assist is part of the Adaptive Cruise Control option. It primes the brakes if the system’s radar senses an imminent collision.

WATCHING YOUR BLIND SPOT

The standard Blind Spot Monitor¹ uses radar to take much of the uncertainty out of changing lanes. When the system detects vehicles alongside that may not be visible in the mirror, an amber warning icon appears in the driver or passenger exterior rearview mirror.

AUTOMATIC SPEED LIMITER

Working in tandem with the cruise control, an Automatic Speed Limiter allows you to select a maximum speed that should not be exceeded.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

The optional Adaptive Cruise Control uses microwave radar in the front bumper to sense if a slow-moving vehicle enters your path, adjusting the throttle and brakes to maintain a constant distance gap between you and the vehicle in front. Once the road clears, the system will resume your previously set speed. The radar can also signal a Forward Alert, which issues an audible warning if the traffic ahead slows quickly or another vehicle suddenly moves into your lane.

EMPOWERING TECHNOLOGIES

The most technologically advanced Jaguar production sedan ever created, the XJ features a suite of easy-to-use, intuitive and empowering technologies, which are all integrated within the innovative Jaguar iTech™ platform. Jaguar iTech lets XJ drivers and passengers enjoy a range of superb entertainment, mobile phone and navigation functions controlled via the Touch-screen, Interactive Voice™ or more traditional switches and controls.²

INTUITIVE CONTROLS

XJ drivers have complete flexibility about how they operate the car’s multimedia systems, whether they are selecting a song, making a phone call or asking the navigation system for directions.

• The principal control panel is the high-definition 8-inch Touch-screen, which displays all available multimedia options.
• The Virtual Instruments are also used to support multimedia options – for instance, the tachometer to the right of the speedometer is temporarily replaced by alert messages, such as low fuel, or prompts for spoken commands.
• With Interactive Voice, many multimedia operations can be controlled with simple spoken commands. This system is supported by a list of prompts in the Virtual Instruments.
• Steering-wheel controls can switch on Interactive Voice, and let you toggle through vehicle setup lists displayed in the Virtual Instruments, adjust the audio volume or choose pre-set radio stations.²

HARD-DISK DRIVE AND MEDIA HUB

At the heart of the multimedia functions in the XJ is a 30GB hard-disk drive. In addition to holding the database for the car’s sophisticated navigation system, it can connect to audio, video and memory devices – through its USB connection, a 3.5-mm auxiliary jack or wirelessly via Bluetooth® 2.0 audio streaming. The USB dock is compatible with most iPod® and iPhone® devices, and offers full-function control via Touch-screen menus.

TRUE HIGH FIDELITY WITH LOW-DISTORTION

• Standard on the XJ and XJL Portfolio is a Meridian™ 380-Watt 12-channel audio system, featuring 14 speakers, including two subwoofers. Engineered for ultra-low distortion, the system’s digital signal processing (DSP) has been custom-tuned to the XJ interior acoustics. It can play CDs, MP3-encoded discs and DVD Audio, as well as DVD movies on the Touch-screen (while the vehicle is stationary). In addition, Dynamic Volume Control actively compensates for changes in ambient sound levels to provide consistently high audio quality.
• The Meridian™ 825-Watt Surround Sound system delivers full, enveloping audio to all vehicle occupants. It is standard on Supercharged, Supersport and Ultimate models, and optional on XJ and XJL Portfolio. This 15-channel system uses 20 speakers, including two large subwoofers, in a 7.1 surround sound architecture. You can select the Meridian Trifield™ surround algorithm or Dolby® Pro Logic® IIx or DTS® Neo:6® encoders to translate stereo source material, such as FM radio or MP3 signals, into rich and realistic surround sound. Similar to the 380-Watt Meridian system, total harmonic distortion for this surround system is an incredibly low 0.2%.
• Standard on all models are HD Radio® and SIRIUS® Satellite Radio (includes three-month complimentary subscription).

BLUETOOTH® CONNECTIVITY

Advanced Bluetooth technology wirelessly connects compatible mobile phones to the vehicle’s built-in hands-free telephone system.² Calls can be made and accepted using the central Touch-screen, the steering wheel controls or Interactive Voice. Bluetooth audio streaming is also possible from advanced smartphones and MP3 music players.

FAST NAVIGATION

The XJ satellite navigation² system is based on an internal hard-disk drive, which provides fast access to data. The system can be controlled through the Touch-screen or with spoken commands, and shows information on the Touch-screen and in the Virtual Instruments. Its Traffic Message Channel offers congestion alerts, and possible alternative routes. In addition, when fuel is running low, the system automatically displays the locations of the nearest gas stations.

REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT

The sophisticated Rear Seat Entertainment system, standard on Supersport and Ultimate, and optional on all other models, allows passengers to enjoy DVD, radio or music stored on a connected MP3 player. This system is operated using a portable Touch-screen controller housed in the rear-seat center armrest, and includes two individual 8-inch LCD screens and two sets of independently controllable WhiteFire® digital wireless headphones. It also includes a Rear Media Interface, allowing connection with a wide range of USB devices.
