ULTIMATE FINESSE
The XJL Ultimate distinguishes itself with exclusive chrome-finished sculpted lower air intake finishers. Bespoke oval polished stainless steel exhaust tailpipe finishers glint while “Ultimate” badging on the trunk lid and in the side power vents denote XJL Ultimate as the pinnacle of the Jaguar line.
UNIQUE 20-INCH MAROA WHEELS: RIDING IN STYLE
The exclusive 20-inch Maroa forged alloy wheels with technical gray and high-polished finish are only available on the XJL Ultimate. Wider wheels and tires are fitted at the rear of the car, enhancing the car’s sporting, athletic stance.
PANORAMIC ROOF: A FEELING OF LIGHT AND SPACE
The XJL Ultimate features a dramatic full-width glass roof, extending from the top of the windshield to the front of the rear seating area. Unlike conventional sunroofs, however, it has a front section that slides upward and outward so it does not impinge on headroom. A dark tint and reflective glass coating help insulate the passenger cabin from the sun’s heat, and twin, power sunblinds can be closed for extra privacy.
BI-FUNCTION HID HEADLAMPS
Bi-function HID xenon headlamps operate automatically to provide powerful illumination when light levels fall. Standard Adaptive Front Lighting reacts to the car’s speed and steering, directing the headlamps to cast light deeper into corners. Intelligent High Beam automatically switches between high- and low-beams to adjust to oncoming or preceding traffic. In a striking design feature, the base of each front headlamp cluster includes a strip of bright-white LED Signature Lights. Headlamp power washers are mounted flush with the front bumper so they will not disrupt the elegant lines of the XJ.
PRECISE PARKING
Ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers are designed to detect objects and give the driver both an audible warning and a visual alert on the Touch-screen. When Reverse is selected, the Touch-screen displays digital video images from a rear-facing camera, providing steering guidance lines to help you maneuver.1
LED TAIL LAMPS: ULTIMATE ELEGANCE
The dramatic tail lamps of the XJL Ultimate follow the contours of the trunk, flowing along the rear fenders before sweeping downward toward the rear bumper. Each lamp unit contains 57 individual LEDs that react to brake application more quickly than conventional bulbs. Three blades of light in each lamp create a unique nighttime signature reminiscent of the claw marks of a cat.
ADJUSTABLE TRUNK LID
The power-operated trunk lid can be opened with a single press on the remote key, or by using a button either inside the car or on the rear bumper. To close the trunk, there is another button inside the lid. For low garage ceilings or simply for ease of use, the opening height of the trunk lid can be easily adjusted.

SEATED IN LUXURY
Stretch out on the sumptuous semi-aniline leather of either of the two individually tailored rear seats. Offering recline, heating/cooling as well as four-way lumbar adjust, the seats can even treat you to a massage. The semi-aniline leather also extends to the front seats. A chauffeur switch can automatically move the front passenger seat forward, offering maximum space for the rear passenger-side seat.
FULL PARTITION REAR CENTER CONSOLE
Adding to the dramatic interior design of the XJL Ultimate is a power-operated passenger table. It rises gracefully from the rear console and can be rotated left or right as required. A section of the center console also houses a beverage chiller. Two handcrafted glasses are provided, and can be safely stored in a dedicated space in the console, which also docks the Touch-screen Rear Seat Entertainment system remote control as well as rear climate controls and connections for portable electronic devices.
REFINED TOUCHES
XJL Ultimate attends to the slightest details – such as the exquisite brushed-aluminum clock, the brilliant LED courtesy lighting for rear passengers, or even the umbrella holder in the trunk. At night, experience the tranquility of the cool Phosphor Blue illumination delineating the interior features, framing the treadplates, the rear center console, the front and rear air vents, the JaguarDrive Selector™ and door architecture.
WOOD-AND-LEATHER HEATED STEERING WHEEL
The XJL Ultimate driver need not take a hand from the luxury of the heated steering wheel to control the car’s interior features. It integrates switches to control the entertainment system and the cruise control, or to engage Interactive Voice control.2
FOUR-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL

510 HP 5.0-LITER SUPERCHARGED JAGUAR V8 ENGINE
Designed entirely in-house, the Jaguar 5.0-liter V8 showcases advanced technologies that optimize power and efficiency while reducing exhaust emissions. Twin air intakes, variable intake camshaft phasing and direct fuel injection help to optimize both efficiency and performance, and provide virtually instant throttle response and outstanding mid-range acceleration. A sixth-generation Eaton® twin-vortex supercharger delivers a considerable power boost with optimized air intakes and rotor geometry designed for improved efficiency with reduced noise and vibration.
WINTER MODE COMES STANDARD
Part of an exhilarating driving experience is driving in control. The JaguarDrive Control™ system on every XJ model features Winter Mode, a sophisticated setting that helps maintain traction on snowy, wet roads – you can enjoy the drive, even in challenging weather conditions.
When activated, Winter Mode transforms the way the XJ responds in slippery conditions: The engine, transmission and Dynamic Stability Control work together to help avoid slipping and skidding while maximizing power delivery in adverse weather conditions.1
JAGUARDRIVE SELECTOR™ AND JAGUARDRIVE CONTROL™
The transmission is controlled by the beautifully designed JaguarDrive Selector™, which rises into your hand once the “Start/Stop” button is pressed. Simply rotate the selector to move from Park to Reverse or Drive. JaguarDrive Control™ offers specific settings for the drivetrain: Dynamic Mode, which illuminates the Virtual Instruments in red and adjusts the Adaptive Dynamics suspension settings, or Winter Mode, appropriately indicated with instruments in ice blue, to provide more progressive throttle control in slippery conditions.1

JAGUAR SEQUENTIAL SHIFT™
The ZF® eight-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission provides smooth yet quick gear changes, and uses adaptive shift technologies to vary transmission operation for economy or performance, depending upon your driving style. For greater driver involvement, paddle shifters positioned behind the steering wheel offer manual gear-selection control.
NO-COMPROMISE DYNAMICS
Unlike conventional passive shock-absorber tuning, which must compromise between soft damping for ride comfort and firm damping for responsive handling, Adaptive Dynamics continuously varies the damping to suit driving conditions. This standard XJ system individually adjusts each shock absorber for improved chassis control with maximum ride comfort.
MAXIMIZING REAR GRIP
The electronic Active Differential is engineered to maximize the available grip at each rear wheel. It detects any slippage, and apportions the power supplied to each wheel to optimize rear-wheel traction for the conditions.

ADVANCED AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS
In addition to driver and passenger front airbag Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), the XJL Ultimate has side airbags (SRS) in the outer edges of the front seats, and side curtain airbags (SRS) to help protect occupants in both the front and rear outboard positions. Sensors detect the size and weight of the driver and front passenger to vary front airbag deployment. At the same time, the front seatbelts feature “soft landing” technology, which softens the contact with the airbag and pre-tensions the seatbelts to help reduce slack. In addition, Active Head Restraints on the front seats are designed to move forward in the event of an impact to help lessen whiplash-type injuries.
PRECISELY CONTROLLED BRAKING
All XJ models have anti-lock brakes, which vary the brake pressure to individual wheels in order to help prevent the wheels from locking under hard braking. If the car senses a sudden brake application, additional brake force is produced by the Emergency Brake Assist, potentially resulting in shorter stopping distances.
AEROSPACE TECHNIQUES
The XJ bodyshell is constructed of aluminum and magnesium alloys using techniques derived from the aerospace industry. Components are riveted, epoxy-bonded and bolted together to form a strong monocoque structure that combines lightness with exceptional rigidity. Less weight means less mass to accelerate, providing outstanding performance and efficiency as well as reduced emissions. This strong but light construction is also integral to the car’s outstanding safety engineering.
SUSTAINABILITY
The lightweight XJ aluminum-alloy body is at the very core of Jaguar focus on environmental responsibility. Using recycled aluminum in up to 50 percent of its body structure saves significant amounts of energy and reduces emissions during the manufacturing process.

DRIVER AND CAR CONNECT
The XJL Ultimate features a suite of easy-to-use, intuitive and empowering technologies, which are all integrated within the innovative Jaguar iTech™ platform. Jaguar iTech lets XJL Ultimate drivers and passengers enjoy a range of superb entertainment, mobile phone and navigation functions controlled via the Touch-screen, Interactive Voice™ or more traditional switches and controls.2
The Virtual Instruments are also used to support multimedia options – for instance, the tachometer to the right of the speedometer is temporarily replaced by alert messages, such as low fuel, or prompts for spoken commands.
INTEGRATED iPads®
XJL Ultimate features two iPads integrated into the backs of the front seats, which are docked and charging whenever the car’s ignition is on. The iPads work independently of each other and can be removed from the docking stations for use outside the vehicle. For added convenience there is room to store the included iPad keyboard.
REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT
The Rear Seat Entertainment system, which allows passengers to enjoy DVD, radio or music stored on a connected MP3 player, is controlled via a compact Touch-screen unit that stows in the center console when not in use. This system includes two individual 8-inch LCD screens, embedded in the headrests of the front seats, and two sets of independently controllable WhiteFire® digital wireless headphones.
HARD-DISK DRIVE AND MEDIA HUB
At the heart of the XJL Ultimate multimedia functions is a 30GB hard-disk drive. In addition to holding the database for the car’s sophisticated navigation system, it can store music from up to ten CDs (uncompressed), and connect to audio, video and memory devices – through its USB connection, a 3.5-mm auxiliary jack or wirelessly via Bluetooth® 2.0 audio streaming. The USB dock is compatible with most iPod® and iPhone® devices, and offers full-function control via Touch-screen menus.
BLUETOOTH® CONNECTIVITY
Advanced Bluetooth technology wirelessly connects compatible mobile phones to the vehicle’s built-in hands-free telephone system. Calls can be made and accepted using the central Touch-screen, the steering wheel controls or Interactive Voice.2
FAST NAVIGATION
The XJL Ultimate satellite navigation system is based on an internal hard-disk drive, which provides fast access to data. The system can be controlled through the Touch-screen or with spoken commands, and displays information on the Touch-screen and in the Virtual Instruments. Its Traffic Message Channel offers congestion alerts, and possible alternative routes. In addition, when fuel is running low, the system automatically displays the locations of the nearest gas stations.
INTERACTIVE VOICE SYSTEM
With Interactive Voice system, many multimedia functions can be controlled with simple spoken directions. Specifically designed to minimize the risk of misunderstood commands, it works by displaying a list of prompts in the virtual instruments. Steering-wheel controls switch on Interactive Voice, and let you toggle through lists displayed in the Virtual Instruments, adjust the audio volume or choose pre-set radio stations.2
MERIDIAN™ SOUND SYSTEM
Meridian Audio, based in Cambridge, England, specializes in the design and manufacture of high-end audio, video and home theater systems. To produce the most realistic sound quality, Meridian benchmarks its systems not against competitors’ audio, but rather against professional singers and real instruments in a studio.
The Meridian 825-Watt Surround Sound system in the XJL Ultimate is engineered to deliver full, enveloping audio to all vehicle occupants. This 15-channel system uses 20 speakers, including two large subwoofers, in a 7.1 surround sound architecture.
Meridian’s Class D switching amplification results in higher sound pressure levels while consuming less energy, and it is engineered for ultra-low distortion. In fact, Total Harmonic Distortion is an incredibly low 0.2%. Working with Jaguar engineers, Meridian audio specialists have custom-tuned the digital signal processing (DSP) to the unique interior acoustics of the XJL. In addition, Dynamic Volume Control actively compensates for changes in ambient sound levels to provide consistently high audio quality.
Audyssey MultEQ sound equalization technology brings even compressed audio, such as MP3 files, to life. A wide range of formats is accessible. The system can play CDs, MP3-encoded discs and DVD Audio, as well as DVD movies on the Touch-screen (while the vehicle is stationary). HD Radio® and SIRIUS® Satellite Radio (includes three-month complimentary subscription) are also standard.
