A: The I-PACE is a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), which means it doesn’t have a combustion engine. Instead of burning fuel (gas or diesel), power is supplied to two electric motors in the form of electricity stored in a rechargeable battery.

Other types of electric vehicles include Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). These refer to vehicles that combine a combustion engine with an electric motor.

A HEV typically has a small battery that is charged by the engine and regenerative braking. The vehicle has a very small electric-only range.

A PHEV can also be charged from an external source of electricity. A PHEV typically has a larger battery and longer range than a HEV.

A: The range of an electric vehicle (the distance that can be traveled before having to recharge the battery) has traditionally been a concern, giving rise to the term “range anxiety.” However, the latest developments in battery technologies mean that vehicles such as the I‑PACE are now a realistic proposition for most people. Many owners will find that they only need to charge the I‑PACE once a week.

For long-distance journeys, a stop may be necessary to charge the battery. This may require some advanced planning, but this continues to become easier as public charging networks expand and rapid chargers increase in power.

A: The range prediction for I‑PACE is designed to be accurate. The electric motor control module will make predictions based on your current driving style and the last 500 miles’ average usage. The navigation system will assist in the prediction of range by including data regarding the topography and speed limits of your selected route.

A: Once the battery is drained of energy, the vehicle will come to a complete halt. But before things get to that stage, you’ll receive two separate and distinct alerts. The first one, when there’s 10% of charge left in the battery, will be an audible alarm accompanied by a yellow warning triangle on the vehicle display panel. The second alert, when there’s 0% of charge, will be another audible alarm together with a red triangle. A message will then appear telling you to shut down the vehicle and pull over.

A: The I‑PACE features LED headlights that are incredibly energy efficient, so driving with your lights on will not make any noticeable difference to the vehicle’s range.

A: The battery of the I‑PACE would only become flammable through misuse or outside intervention. Electric vehicle batteries feature sophisticated safety systems that are designed to maintain optimal temperatures.

A: Batteries can be stored as low as -40°F, but must be plugged in and heated to -4°F before driving. In long-lasting hot or cold temperatures, an electric vehicle’s range is reduced because energy is required to keep the battery at an efficient operating temperature. Energy is also needed to warm up the cabin when the temperature is low.

The I‑PACE features state-of-the-art thermal management systems to optimize battery performance in warmer or cooler temperatures.

A: The I‑PACE has an efficient thermal management system that maintains the temperature of the battery. An electric vehicle battery will, typically, be between 59°F and 86°F, which is considerably cooler than an internal combustion engine.

A: Yes. The battery of the I‑PACE has an 8 years or 100,000 miles warranty and is redeemable if the battery drops below a 70 percent state of health. For more details please contact your Jaguar Retailer.

A: Electric vehicle batteries will be disposed of in line with the End of Life Vehicles Directive, relevant to regional requirements or your local market.

A: For optimum charging at home, you can purchase and install a Jaguar-recommended home charger. The I-PACE is equipped with an 11 kW single phase AC on-board charger, which can fully recharge the vehicle overnight.

All AC and rapid DC public charging points come equipped with their own cables, so you do not require any additional equipment to use these stations.

A: With an approved Jaguar wall box installed, a full charge can be achieved in approximately 10.2 hours.

A: Jaguar has partnered with home charger suppliers and installers for all markets in which the I‑PACE is available. Our partners are available to advise on the best solutions for you. Please consult your local Jaguar Retailer for further information.

A: No. If you would like to install a charger in your home, your local Jaguar Retailer will be able to guide you through the process with our recommended wall box suppliers and installers.

A: Your home charger supplier will be able to provide a quote to remove your wall box and reinstall it at your new home.

A: Yes. Our recommended home chargers are equipped for use with the J1772 connector for AC charging. Any electric vehicle with that connection will be able to charge using our recommended wall box.

A: Any AC home charger with a J1772 connector should be able to be used to charge the I‑PACE.

A: Our Jaguar-recommended home charger suppliers are capable of installing charging solutions for a variety of homes. They will support you with regard to permissions, permits and suitability.

A: The price of electricity fluctuates according to market influences. To estimate the cost for a full charge, simply multiply the rate you are charged per kWh by 90, as the I‑PACE has a 90 kWh battery.

A: Yes. Your vehicle can be charged with a current that is greater than 2 amps, or 750W.

A: As long as the charge point offers the same standards and connector as your vehicle, and you have an account with the charge point provider, you can use that public charging station.

However, public charging stations owned by specific manufacturers can only be used by vehicles from that manufacturer.

A: An independent network of rapid vehicle chargers is developing quickly across many countries. We will ensure that all Jaguar electric vehicles are compatible with this network.

A: You can use the I‑PACE in-car navigation while you are driving, or the Remote app to find charging stations before you travel.

A: The Public Charging (Mode 3) Cable locks into the vehicle inlet and remains locked until you unlock your I-PACE.

A: No. It is a mandatory requirement of international standards that electric vehicles cannot be driven when plugged into a charging station.

A: Yes. Customers and bystanders are not exposed to any risk of electric shock.

A: You’ll find the rate of battery charge is influenced by the chemistry and physics of the battery itself. That’s why DC charging can take as long to charge the last remaining 20% as it does to charge the initial 80%. With this in mind, we’ve designed a Charging Management System to boost the life and performance of your vehicle’s battery. The final stages of charging are carefully controlled by the battery management system.

A: Our electric vehicles can be left unattended for at least six months; however, plugging in once a month is optimal. The battery management system is electronically controlled and uses very little energy.

A: Destination charging refers to charging stations that can be found at local shopping centers, hotels, gyms and other destinations you may visit for extended periods of time.

A: Yes. The Remote™ app, available for both iOS and Android, enables you to stop or start charging, manage departure times, pre-condition your vehicle, manage tolls and set a maximum state of charge. The app also sends you notifications if the charge plug is unexpectedly removed or if charging has stopped due to lack of power.

A: Electric motors consume energy to provide motion. When this motion is no longer required, for example when the vehicle is slowing, the braking force can be harnessed to reverse the action of the motor and generate electricity. The electricity generated can be fed back to the battery, extending the vehicle's range.

A: The I‑PACE has three driver modes that can automatically adapt the vehicle settings for comfort, dynamics or range preservation.

A: Yes. Electric vehicles are designed and tested to the same standards as conventional combustion engine vehicles.

A: Yes. Customers and bystanders are not exposed to any risk of electric shock.

A: We wouldn’t recommend towing the Jaguar I-PACE. In general terms, if you need to move or recover the vehicle, you must always use a transporter or a trailer specifically designed for that purpose. However, should you find yourself stuck in a particularly dangerous location and there’s no alternative, be sure to tow it for no more than 500 yards at a very slow speed.

A: Yes. The structure of the I-PACE is designed to be just as rigid and structurally capable as that of a combustion-engine vehicle. Just like any conventional vehicle, the I-PACE has dedicated jacking positions for changing tires.
