JAGUAR SOFTWARE UPDATES

Our software updates are a quick, convenient way to ensure your vehicle remains up to date without the need to visit a Jaguar Retailer. Updates are available via the car’s connectivity, including the vehicle’s SIM card or Wi-Fi.

After activating this feature, a notification will appear on your vehicle’s touchscreen when an update is available. This can be downloaded and installed then and there, or you can choose to postpone the update to a more convenient time.

SOFTWARE UPDATES FAQ

SOFTWARE UPDATES OVERVIEW

  • What are software updates?

Through these wireless updates, you can conveniently keep the vehicle’s software up to date without the need to visit a Jaguar Retailer.

  • What is the benefit of updating the software?

Software updates offer a convenient way to keep your car up to date, with less frequent visits required to your Jaguar Retailer. They provide the ability to further optimize vehicle systems, such as the infotainment system or the charging capability in all‑electric vehicles.

  • What software can be updated in my vehicle?

The updates maintain and fix the software in your vehicle’s Infotainment and Telematics Module, and, in our electric vehicles, the Battery Energy Control Module.

  • How often will I receive software updates?

Software updates will be sent periodically to Jaguar vehicles as soon as the need arises or any issues are identified with existing vehicle software.

  • How can I turn the software updates on or off?

You can switch the software update on or off through the Settings menu within the Software Updates section. When switching on Software Updates, you will need to accept the terms and conditions to activate the feature.

  • Is my vehicle eligible for an Infotainment System software update?

Vehicles eligible for an infotainment system update will have software version 18B or above. You can check what software version your infotainment system is through the Settings menu, within the Software Update section. The version of the infotainment system will be displayed as a long string of characters, e.g. ‘S18B_18.25.3-174880’.

CONNECTIVITY

  • How do I connect my vehicle to receive infotainment updates?

Infotainment updates require a data connection, which the vehicle will scan for. First it will search for a Wi-Fi connection (if the car is connected to an external Wi-Fi source such as a home network or phone hotspot). If no connection is found, it will then select the car's P-SIM (found in the center console).

  • How do I connect my car to receive Telematics/Battery updates?

Telematics/Battery updates will scan for a data connection, similar to Infotainment updates, and will add a third data source, the internal Telematics SIM.

  • What happens if I lose the connection during a download?

If your connection is lost during a download, it will pause until the connection is re‑established.

  • Are there data costs associated with an infotainment update?

You may experience data costs if connection is achieved through the SIM card inserted into your vehicle.

HOW UPDATES WORK

  • How do I know if an update is available?

Enable Software Updates from the Settings menu and accept the terms and conditions prior to download. When any type of software update is available, you will receive a pop-up notification on the infotainment system. You can also check for available updates through the Settings menu, within the Software Updates section.

  • What do I need to do before installing an update?

To perform the update you need to:

Successfully download the update to your vehicle.

Maintain Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity during the process.

  • How do I perform an infotainment update?

You will receive a pop‑up on the vehicle’s screen when an update is available for download/installation. Once accepted, the update will not interrupt the driving experience. Upon completion, you will receive a successful installation notification on the infotainment screen.

  • How do I update the Telematics or Battery Energy Control Module?

You will receive a pop‑up on the infotainment screen when a Telematics/Battery update is available for download. Once downloaded, you will receive a second pop-up to install the update. Once accepted, you cannot stop the process. A series of preconditions must be met for an install to occur properly. The vehicle cannot be used for 35 minutes during installation and it must be locked and alarmed.

  • I have accepted a download. Can I still use my car?

The installation process for Telematics/Battery updates will render your car unusable for 35 minutes. (However, the download process will not impact vehicle usage.)

  • How long does the software update installation take?

Installations may take up to 35 minutes. When installing Telematics and Battery Energy Control Module updates, you will not be able to use your vehicle during this time. But you can still use your vehicle when installing an infotainment update.

  • How do I know when the software update is complete?

A notification on your infotainment system will inform you when the software has installed successfully.

  • Do I need to have a signal for the installation to take place?

Yes. You need a mobile or Wi‑Fi connection to download and complete the installation.

  • Can I stop the installation once it has started?

No. Once started, the installation cannot be stopped.

PROBLEM RESOLUTION

  • The download has failed. What do I do?

You can use your vehicle as normal. A failed download will not affect your vehicle’s functionality in any way. Please contact the Jaguar Customer Relationship Center (1.800.4.JAGUAR) or your Jaguar Retailer and they will investigate further.

  • The installation has failed. What should I do?

If your vehicle is experiencing issues when restarting after an update, please contact road‑side assistance or your local retailer and they will investigate further.

  • I skipped the update, but I now want to install it. What do I do?

You can access the update through your vehicle’s Settings menu, within the Software Updates section. Select ‘Check for an Update’ and, if an update is available, a notification will appear, allowing you to begin the process. If you prefer, you can visit a Jaguar Retailer, who will assist you with the update.

  • Can I update the software while out of the country?

Yes. This may result in roaming charges, depending on your in‑vehicle data plan.

  • Can I stop other people from updating my software?

Yes. You can add a PIN to your vehicle to protect your Software Update settings. To manage this, select General settings > Software Updates > lock icon.

  • Do I need an InControl® account for software updates?

No, you do not require an InControl account to perform software updates. However, it is recommended to have an active InControl account to leverage the vehicle’s P-SIM data connection.

  • Why haven’t I seen a notification for the infotainment update?

The vehicle will need to be connected to a data source. If the car does not have an active P-SIM, you may connect the car to a Wi-Fi source and check for software updates under the General Settings Menu > Software Updates. Or, alternatively, visit a Jaguar Retailer, who will assist you with the update.
